Darkness Comes Struggle

There are always some things that cannot be conquered by death...

In the square, Chris held his pistol tightly and confronted the hideous and evil zombie. On the tower beside him, the black dragon gathered its huge wings and glanced at the people below like ants with cold eyes.

The zombie stared at Chris, and the snake-like eyes were filled with evil murderous intent, which made Chris feel a chill. "Come on, let me see if your persistence makes sense." A low and cold voice came from the tower, with a desperate depression.

The zombie swung its hideous long tail behind it and slowly walked towards Chris. His sharp claws caught traces on the stone ground. Looking at the zombies that were approaching, Chris hesitated for a moment and did not retreat and set aside. Behind him were Claire and the other two. He was not sure that the terrifying monster on the opposite side would not hurt them.

Chris raised his pistol, aimed at the head of the zombie, and fired a tentative shot. A strange scene happened - like an illusion, the zombie flashed aside instantly, avoiding the bullet, and slowly walked towards Chris. Chris' heart sank suddenly, and he pointed the muzzle at the zombie's body and continuously fired, but it was useless. The zombie could always dodge and avoid it easily before being hit by the bullet, and at the same time approached forward slowly, as if he was playing with his prey.

"Click." A light sound made Chris breath suddenly suffocate. It was the sound of empty room hanging up. There were no bullets in the gun. Now, Chris could only face this terrifying creature with bare hands.

As if he felt Chris' nervousness, the zombie let out a low roar, and the heavy breathing sounded like the moan of a dying person. It stared at Chris and arched slightly.

Chris subconsciously felt danger, and he rushed to the side. The next moment, the zombie instantly rushed to the place where he had just stood, and his claws like a blade were deeply grabbed into the ground like butter. The zombie turned to look at Chris, roaring like a demonstration, revealing his tongue with sharp teeth and forked like a snake. Chris waved his hand and threw the pistol at it, and was blocked by the zombie subconsciously. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Chris rushed up and kicked the zombie hard on the head. Chris felt as if he was kicking a truck tire, and the huge recoil force made his feet ached faintly. Chris kicked the zombie and was about to make up for it. The wind from his ears tightened his whole body. The next moment he was beaten up by a huge force and fell to the ground.

The zombie slapped Chris firmly with his tail, and the sharp scales on his tail shattered Chris's shoulders into a bloody and bloody way, causing Claire and Joanna to scream.

Chris struggled to get up, and the hit he had just made half of his body numb. He tried to move his shoulders, and a biting pain made him tremble. It was probably a fractured left arm, which was not good news. He looked at the zombie not far away, as if the stimulation of blood made it excited, and was watching him make a low and bloodthirsty roar.

The zombie rushed towards Chris, and the claws flew down from the bottom to the top, so fast that Chris could not cope with it. Chris barely dodged backwards, and then he felt a chill in his chest. The next moment, the hot pain suddenly came - the zombie's claws streaked across his chest, cutting two very shallow wounds, almost lifting Chris. Chris endured the pain, bent his right arm and punched him hard under the ribs of the zombie. The zombie howled in pain and waved his arms to hit Chris. Chris had only time to block his arm in his chest, and was hit hard on his chest and flew out.

Chris felt like he had hit a speeding car, and he could even hear the sound of his bones breaking. Chris fell to the ground, his mind was drowsy, and he seemed to hear the screams of a woman. He struggled and turned over, and a warm feeling was used up along his throat, spreading into a strong fishy and salty smell in his mouth.

"Chris, Chris!" Claire cried in panic. She saw Chris spewing a mouthful of blood and fell to the ground in a drooping manner. She tried to rush over, but her body was not in control at all, so she turned to the tower, where the black dragon was looking down at them. "Stop, please." Claire shouted, tears flowing across his cheeks, "He is dying, please stop!"

The Black Dragon ignored Claire's plea and stared at Chris quietly, his emotions could not be seen in his cold eyes.

"At this point, are you still unwilling to give up?" Black Dragon said to Chris. "All your efforts and persistence are nothing but dying struggles, futile and pathetic."

"I said there are some things that you can't understand." Chris struggled and said weakly, blood flowing out of the corner of his mouth, looking very dazzling.

The dragon narrowed his eyes, his dark golden pupils shone like a blade, and he shone with dangerous light. He looked at Chris, and his black flames were leaping restlessly, "—Kill him!"

"No!" Claire screamed hysterically, and Joanna looked at Chris blankly and cried silently.

The zombie strode to Chris, strangled Chris' neck with one hand, and picked him up. Chris grabbed the zombie's arm with his right hand, and struggled weakly, like a rag doll. The zombie looked at Chris in his hand, screaming in a low voice, and poked out the long tongue that was forked like a snake, swept across Chris' face, leaving a bloody scar.

"The last chance-" The black dragon slightly stirred his wings, and a cold voice sounded with the sound of the wind, "Submit, or like these sad souls, to endure eternal torture in the confinement."

Chris opened his eyes and glanced at the Black Dragon, then he slowly raised his hand and raised his middle finger at it.

A ferocious smile appeared on the zombie's face. It raised its other claw, and on its slightly bent fingertips, the sharp claws pointed at Chris' chest like a knife.

"Chris." Claire cried in despair, looking at Ota who had been closed, "Do something, hurry up."

Ota didn't say anything, but shook her head helplessly. Claire felt that her heart was grabbed by something, and deep despair and fear surrounded her, making her unable to breathe.

"I'm willing to replace him!" A voice suddenly sounded, it was Joanna. She bravely looked at the black dragon on the tower and shouted loudly again: "I'm willing to replace him. If killing and torture are what you want, then I'm willing to replace him and kill me."

Joanna's voice was not loud, but she was extremely firm. She looked at Chris deeply, and a different kind of emotion flashed in her eyes, "This is my tragedy, and all the pain and misfortune should be borne by me."

Claire was silent, staring at the unfortunate and brave mother blankly. Aside from her, Ota still sat on the ground with his eyes closed and motionless.

"Joe...Joanna..." Chris said powerlessly, but he could do nothing.

The dragon turned its head, staring at Joanna with dark golden eyes. I don’t know what it was thinking, and the black flames around me were leaping restlessly. For a moment, the square was silent.

"Aren't you afraid?" A terrifying light shining in his cold eyes. "In order to save him, I am willing to let my soul suffer in the endless pain."

Joanna shivered slightly, she glanced at dying Chris and bit her lip, "I don't regret it."

The zombie roared in disappointment and threw Chris to the ground, making him snort. Chris raised his head with great difficulty and saw dark red vines growing out of the tower, burning black flames, rolling towards Joanna.

Joanna closed her eyes, tears flowed out of her eyes, and crossed her beautiful face. Beside her, Chris looked at all this in pain and helplessness.

Just as the vines were about to touch Joanna, a figure suddenly appeared in front of her - Shirley in a red dress blocked Joanna behind her and raised her arm in the direction of the vine. The aggressive vine was suddenly locked in the air by invisible force, turning into a twisted face made of smoke, and wailing and dissipating in the air.

Shirley's sudden behavior shocked Chris and the others. Before they could figure out what this meant, a low and angry cold snorted from the tower. The next moment, the pressure was so powerful that it was desperately overwhelming.

The dragon spread its wings, and the burning black fire suddenly became violent and violent. The stimulating force made the surrounding space begin to twist. Under this terrifying force, the tower under the dragon began to collapse, and countless twisted faces appeared on the tower, and then howled and turned into nothingness in the black flames. The living zombie struggled, making a creepy scream, and turned into a ball of blood mist under the terrifying pressure of the black dragon, and was wiped out.

The dragon's body turned into a ball of black fire, then collapsed inward, condensed into a human body, and the flames surrounding it condensed into a black robe. The man stood in the sky, looked down at the people on the ground, and then stepped into the void and walked slowly to them.

It surprised Chris and the others. The person in front of him looked like a teenage boy, which made it difficult to connect him with the huge and hideous black dragon, except for his eyes - cold and deep, as if leading to a bottomless abyss.

He looked at Shirley who was standing in front of Chris and the others, "I didn't expect you to do this."

"I long for revenge, but I never thought of hurting the person I love." Shirley said lightly, "My Lord Sauron, I am loyal to you, but at least, please let me keep the last bit of human emotions."

"Even if I face my anger because of this?" he said in a deep voice, with a terrifying coldness in his voice. "If this can be exchanged for their chance to survive-" Shirley walked to Sauron, slowly fell to the ground, lowered her head, "I do."

Sauron's five fingers bent slightly, and the black flames gathered between his fingers. Even if Shirley was blocked behind him, Chris and others could feel the power that seemed to destroy everything. He narrowed his eyes and looked at the girl kneeling in front of him, not knowing what he was thinking. After a long time, he chuckled indifferently and waved his hand to dissipate the flames.

"You won the bet," said Soren, pressing his finger on Shirley's forehead. "You should be glad that I want a capable subordinate more than a tool."

A drop of blood burning with flames flowed out of her fingertips and instantly melted into Shirley's skin, turning into a pattern of black flames, flashing in the middle of her eyebrows.

"Thank you for your gift," said the girl, with an unhidden excitement in her voice, "I swear with my soul and follow your footsteps forever."

Chris and others watched all this happen with complicated expressions. Joanna looked at her daughter worriedly, trying to say something, but was stopped by Ota who had been silent. At this time, a stream of ethereal and low music came from the void, making people unable to help but be addicted to it. The black phoenix flew from nowhere and landed on Sauron's shoulder, rubbing his head affectionately against his cheek.

"It's so fast." Sauron whispered, turning to look outside the town, "a bunch of annoying bed bugs."

"Take them out of here," he said to Shirley, "Say your final farewell."

The girl nodded, stood up and walked towards Chris and the others. Just as Chris and the others were about to speak, they suddenly felt everything around them was spinning. The next moment, they were surprised to find themselves standing in the forest outside the town, and the road leading to the town was not far away. Shirley stood quietly in front of the four, as if she had a premonition of the coming farewell. Joanna looked at her daughter with tears in her eyes, her eyes filled with sorrow.

"Don't cry for me, mom." Shirley approached Joanna, with a familiar smile on her mother's face. She gently hugged her mother and buried her head in her arms. "I will come back, mom. By then, I will have enough strength to protect everything I love."

After saying that, Shirley let go of Joanna and walked towards Chris who was being held by Claire. She reached out and pointed it at Chris. In Claire's surprised gaze, Chris's injuries were healing rapidly and healed completely quickly, as if he had never appeared.

"Thank you," she said to Claire and Ota beside her, turning to Chris again, "Take good care of my mom."

Chris was stunned for a moment, and looked at Joanna with some embarrassment. Shirley looked at everyone, slowly retreated, and a relief smile appeared on her face. In Joanna's tears, it turned into a bloody rose petal and disappeared from the spot.

Joanna's tears remained in the end. She quietly watched the place where Shirley disappeared. Chris hesitated for a moment, reached out to hold her gently in her arms, and comforted her gently: "She will come back."

A roar of cars came, pulling several people out of their thoughts. On the road not far away, an off-road vehicle stopped. The lights were shaking, which made several people feel a little dazzling.

"Chris, is it you?" a voice shouted. Chris recognized the voice as his teammate in the SWAT team.

"It's me." Chris responded loudly, and he saw several people running over, and the flashlight in his hand shone bright lines in the dark forest.

Soon, Chris saw clearly that the people came were all his teammates in the police force. They were all fully armed, and Gill was the leader, and Captain Wisk stood behind him and glanced around him vigilantly from time to time.

"Are you okay?" Jill asked. Although the wound on Chris' body had healed, the blood-stained ragged clothes and uncovered fatigue made Chris look bad. She looked up at the gloomy sky and frowned, "What exactly happened here?"

Chris was speechless for a moment, and after a long time, he smiled bitterly, "That's a very complicated story."

"Okay, let's talk less." Captain Wisk interrupted Jill, who was still asking again. "Things are a bit complicated. Although I don't know what happened, it seems that the army has intervened. We'd better leave here first."
