Chapter 27 The Trace of the Chamber of Secrets(1/2)

Section 1

Harry and Ron quietly returned to the bedroom of the tower. Ron was too lazy to take off his clothes, so he fell on the bed. Harry was almost the same. As soon as he lay on the bed, his fatigue surged up like a tide. In fact, he had just experienced so much danger and stimulation, and once he relaxed, no matter who he was, he would do so.

"What do you think is the one who caught us and flew back just now?" Harry asked in a low voice in the darkness.

"I don't know." Ron's voice was muffled, his face pressed against the bed, and he didn't even bother to use the strength to raise his head. "Fortunately it doesn't eat people like Hagrid's friends." Ron complained, "I guess it should be a big eagle or something."

"If Hermione was there, she would probably know." Harry said casually, then was stunned.

Ron didn't respond, and Hermione was still lying alone in the hospital, which made Ron and Harry feel uncomfortable. After a long time, Ron supported his upper body, "You said, if it weren't for the big spider who killed the student, what would it be?"

Harry shook his head, the silver moonlight came in through the window, and Harry frowned in the moonlight. Riddle caught the wrong person, Slytherin's heir ran away, no one knew whether the same person or another person opened the secret room this time. Hermione was petrified, and Sauron was still missing, and no one could ask. Harry sank his head deep into the pillow, thinking about all kinds of clues in his mind. The summer night was a little stuffy, but the pendant on Harry's chest was always cold. Suddenly, he had an idea, which made him sit up suddenly.

"Ron-the dead girl. Aragork said she was found in the bathroom," Harry said, regardless of Neville's snoring in the corner. "Soren told me that if people die, they would stay where they died."

"Well, so what?" Ron asked in confusion, and then he opened his mouth wide in surprise, "You mean--the crying Myrtle?!"

During breakfast the next day, Harry and Ron were both struggling with whether to go to the girl's bathroom to find the crying Myrtle. To be honest, Harry and Ron didn't like to face the weird-tempered female ghost, not to mention that the girl's bathroom was too close to where Mrs. Loris was killed, so it was difficult for them to avoid the teacher for a long time.

Harry looked at Slytherin's dining table habitually, and Sauron's position was still empty.

However, in the first deformation class in the morning, something happened that made them forget the secret room for the first time in a few weeks. Professor McGonagall walked into the classroom and told them that the exam would be held on June 1st, just one week away from today.

"Exam?" the Gryffindors screamed, "We still need to take the exam?"

"Clang!" A loud noise came from behind Harry, and Neville Longbotton's wand slipped from his hand, causing one leg of the desk to suddenly disappear. Professor McGonagall waved her wand and installed the table legs again, then she turned around and frowned.

"In this extraordinary state, the school has not been closed. The purpose is to give you education." She said sternly, "Therefore, the exam is still going on like usual, and I believe you will review it carefully."

Review carefully! Harry never thought that this was already the case in the castle and even had to take the exam. I am afraid that no one would be happy about this except Hermione, who was still lying in the medical room. The students started talking, and there was a squirm in the classroom, which made Professor McGonagall's brows frown tighter and his face became more gloomy.

“Professor Dumbledore’s instructions are to keep the school running as normal as possible,” she said. “That means to examine how much you have learned this year.”

Harry looked down at the pair of little white rabbits. He should have turned them into slippers. What has he learned so far this year? He couldn't think of what knowledge he had in his mind to handle exams.

"There is one more thing. Professor Snape cannot continue to attend classes in the short term due to physical reasons, so this week's potion class is suspended..."

Before Professor McGonagall could finish his words, the Gryffindors cheered, and Ron became happy immediately from being depressed. In fact, for any Gryffindor, including Harry, Snape's potions class could be considered a nightmare.

"What's wrong with Snape?" Ron murmured to Harry excitedly, "I really hope he's petrified too."

Section 2

It was only three days before their first exam, and at breakfast, Professor McGonagall announced another news.

"I have good news to tell everyone," she said, not only did the auditorium not become quiet, but instead became noisy.

"Dumbledore is back!" several people shouted happily.

"You have seized Slytherin's heir!" a girl on Ravenclaw's dining table shouted in a sharp voice.

"Quidditch game has resumed!" Wood shouted excitedly.

After the noises subsided, Professor McGonagall said: "Professor Sprout told me that the Mandela grass can finally be harvested. Tonight we can bring back the petrified people. I don't need to point out to you that someone among them might tell us who, or something, was attacking them. I sincerely hope that this terrible year will end with us catching the murderer."

Everyone burst into cheers. Harry looked at Slytherin's dining table and did not see Soren, Draco.

Malfoy was talking to Ibicos.

"Then, it doesn't matter whether we go or not!" Ron said to Harry. "When they wake up Hermione, she may be able to answer all the questions! But don't forget that if she finds that the exam is going to take three days, she will definitely be crazy. She hasn't had time to review! Perhaps a more kind way is to keep her status quo and wait until the exam is over."

Just then, Ginny Weasley came over and sat next to Ron. She seemed very nervous and anxious. Harry noticed that her hands were twisting together tightly on her knees.

"What's wrong?" Ron said, adding some porridge to himself.

Ginny said nothing, looking back and forth at Gryffindor's dining table, the terrified look on her face reminded Harry of someone, who was it, and he couldn't remember it.

"Speak quickly." Ron said to her.

Harry suddenly remembered who Ginny looked like. Seeing her swaying back and forth in the chair, Harry remembered that whenever Dobby wanted to reveal some secrets that he could not tell and wanted to say something, he would stagger around like this.

"I have something to tell you," Ginny muttered, carefully avoiding Harry's gaze.

"What's the matter?" Harry asked. Ginny couldn't seem to find the right word. "What's wrong?" Ron asked. Ginny opened her mouth but didn't make a sound. Harry leaned forward and pressed the voice very low, only Ginny and Ron could hear it. "Is it about the secret room? What did you see? Is anyone acting abnormal?" Ginny took a deep breath and was about to speak, just at this moment, Percy Weasley appeared, looking tired and haggard.

"Ginny, if you finish eating, just give me the seat. I'm hungry and just came back on duty." Ginny jumped up suddenly, as if her chair had suddenly been powered on. She glanced at Percy in a hurry and panic and ran away. Percy sat down and grabbed a large cup from the center of the table.

"Percy!" Ron said irritated, "She was about to tell us something important!" Percy choked after swallowing a sip of tea. "What's the matter?" he asked while coughing.

"I just asked her if she had seen any abnormality, and she was about to say--"

"Oh—that thing—that thing has nothing to do with the secret room." Percy said immediately. "How do you know?" Ron raised his eyebrows in surprise. "That's right, well, if you must know, Ginny, um, she suddenly met me that day, and I was-ah, it would be better not to say--in fact, she happened to see me doing something, I, uh, I told her not to tell anyone. Oh, I knew she couldn't do it. Actually, it was nothing, I would rather--"

Harry had never seen Percy look so embarrassed before. "What were you doing at that time, Percy?" Ron asked with a sly smile. "Don't hide it, tell us quickly, we won't laugh at you."

Percy didn't laugh. "Hand me those buns, Harry, I'm so hungry."

Harry knew that the whole secret would be revealed tomorrow without their help, but if he had the opportunity to talk to Myrtle, he would not want to miss it - to his delight, the opportunity came soon. Two classes in the morning, they went to the magic history class under the escort of Gidrolohart.

After Lohart hurriedly left, Harry and the other Gryffindors slowed down and let the other Gryffindors go in front, then they sneaked into a corridor next to them and hurried to the sobbing Myrtle's bathroom. However, just as they were about to congratulate the plan for perfection—

"Potter! Weasley! What are you doing?"

It was Professor McGonagall, her lips pursed into a straight line that was too thin to be thin.

"We want-we want-" Harry stammered, "we want to go-to-see-"

"Hermione." Ron intercepted. Harry and Professor McGonagall looked at him.

"We haven't seen her for a long time, Professor," Ron said in a breath, "we just wanted to sneak into the hospital and tell her that the Mandela grass is about to grow, and tell her not to worry."

Professor McGonagall was still staring at him, and for a moment, Harry thought she was going to get angry. As a result, she spoke, her voice trembling strangely.

"Of course," she said, Harry was surprised to find a little tears flashing in her sharp eyes, "Of course, I know that for all the friends of those unfortunate victims, this pain is really unbearable...I understand very much. Yes, Potter, of course you can visit Hermione. I will tell Professor Bince where you are. And then to Mrs. Pomfrey, I approved you to go."

Harry and Ron walked away, unable to believe that they had escaped the punishment of staying in school. When they turned around, they clearly heard Professor McGonagall blowing his nose.

"Great," Harry said excitedly, "that's the best lie you made up." They had no other choice now, so they had to go to the hospital and tell Mrs. Pomfrey that Professor McGonagall approved them to visit Hermione.

Mrs. Pomfrey let them in, but she was reluctant.

In the room, Hermione lay stiffly on the hospital bed, looking at the ceiling with her eyes blankly. On the hospital bed beside her, Isabella, who was also petrified, was lying on the bed, with her smooth brown hair dull. On the table next to the hospital bed, there was a vase, and a bunch of lilies with a faint blue light, exuding a faint fragrance.

"It seems that someone has come just now." Harry leaned over to the flower and said, "There is still dew on the flower."

"Maybe it's Slytherin," Ron said, turning to Hermione's remaining frightened face.

"I wonder if she saw the attacker?" Ron looked at Hermione's stiff face sadly and said, "If that guy sneaked up on them from behind, no one would know..."

However, Harry did not look at Hermione's face. He seemed more interested in her right hand. The clenched hand was placed on the blanket, and Harry leaned closer and saw a piece of paper clenched in her fist. Harry was sure that Mrs. Pomfrey was not around and pointed the piece of paper to Ron.

"Take it out," Ron whispered, moving the chair a little, blocking Mrs. Pomfrey's view, making her unable to see Harry.

Harry took a lot of effort. Hermione held the paper too tightly, and Harry felt that he would definitely tear it. In this way, Ron was standing guard by the side, Harry broke and twisted it, and after a few minutes of intense efforts, he finally got out the paper.

This is a page of paper torn from an old library book. Harry couldn't wait to unfold it, and Ron came up, and the two read together: In our country, there are many terrible beasts and monsters, the most bizarre and lethal of them is the snake monster, also known as the snake king. The size of this snake can become very huge and usually live for hundreds of years. It is hatched from a rooster egg and a toad. It kills people

The style is very amazing. In addition to its deadly fangs, the staring of the snake monster can also cause death. Anyone who is stared at it will die immediately. The spider will run away when he sees the snake monster, because the snake monster is the mortal enemy of the spider, and the snake monster will run away in a hurry when he hears the rooster's cry, because the rooster's cry is also fatal to it. Below this passage, there are two words written, and Harry recognized it as Hermione's handwriting at a glance. The two words are: Guanzi.

"Ron," he was so excited that he could hardly breathe, "That's it. The answer is here. The monster in the secret room is the snake monster-a giant snake! No wonder I could hear that sound everywhere I went, but others couldn't hear it. Because I could understand the snake man's accent..."

Harry looked at the beds around him.

"Whoever the Basil monster's eyes look at, he will die. But no one here died - because none of them looked at it directly. Colin saw it through the camera. The Basil monster burned the film in the camera, and Colin was just petrified; Justin must have seen the Basil monster through Nick who was almost headless! Nick was stared at by the Basil monster's eyes, but he could not die for the second time... When Hermione and Isabella were discovered, there was a mirror next to her. I can bet with you, she reminded everyone she met to remind her to use the mirror to look at the corner first! The girl just took out the mirror----"

Ron opened his mouth wide in surprise.

"What about Mrs. Loris?" he asked nervously.

Harry thought hard and recalled the scene on Halloween Eve.

"Water..." he said slowly, "the stall of water that came out of the toilet of the crying Myrtle. I dare say Mrs. Loris just saw the reflection in the water..."

He looked at the page of paper in his hand urgently again, and the more he looked, the more he felt his heart shining.

"The rooster's cry is also fatal to it!" he said loudly, "Hagin's roosters are killed! Once the secret room is opened, Slytherin's heirs will never want a rooster to exist near the castle! Spiders will run away when they see it! Ah, each one can match the number!"

"But how could the snake monster crawl around?" Ron said, "An ugly snake... will surely see it..."

But Harry pointed to the two words that Hermione had written down under the paper.

"Pipe," he said, "Pipe...Ron, it keeps moving in the pipe. I always hear that sound inside the wall..."

Ron grabbed Harry's arm.

"The entrance to the secret room!" he said hoarsely, "Maybe it's in a bathroom? Maybe it's-"

"——The Crying Myrtle's Bathroom." Harry said.

They sat there, looking at each other excitedly, and suddenly, Ron seemed to have thought of something, looking at Harry with a surprised expression.

"What's wrong?" Harry asked.

"Soren." Ron whispered, "He knows..."

"What does Sauron know?" Harry was puzzled.

Ron didn't say anything, just pointed at Harry's eyes. Harry touched in confusion, and he was stunned when he touched the glasses on the bridge of his nose.

"Soren gave you these glasses as a gift," said Ron, "he had known for a long time that the Snake Monster was in the secret room!"
